Learning to Learn: The Best Way to Find Opportunities
Learning is the foundation. With a system and the proper belief in yourself you can become anything or anyone.
I recently posted a series of newsletters on learning to learn.
If there’s one thing I’ve realized over the course of writing them, it’s this: learning happens when a P.L.A.N comes together.
Any serious learning requires a plan, happening in stages. Each stage is important for retention and success—for moving knowledge from short-term holding to long-term storage.
The P.L.A.N
There’s 4 stages to learning:
Preparation
Learning
Accomplishing
Nurturing
P: Preparation
This is the initial stage. You’ve identified something you’re curious about, something you want to fan the flames of passion for.
But how do you set yourself up to succeed? What do you need to do before learning? How do you avoid the common pitfalls that prevent people from reaching their goals?
You can read the story I wrote about preparation here:
L: Learning
Preparation has been taken care of. You move to the next stage—actual learning. You’ve built a foundation of what you expect to learn, how to learn it and why you should. Now you must put in the time to actually gain an understanding.
It’s time to dive deep, and take the time you need to fully grasp it.
You can read the story I wrote about the learning stage here:
A: Accomplishing
We must work to ensure knowledge transfers into long-term memory. We do so in the accomplishing stage. We aim to successfully achieve an understanding through review and continued practice.
You can read the story I wrote about accomplishing this here:
N: Nurturing
The final aspect of learning is nurturing. We’ve accomplished what we set out to do, and gained a solid theoretical foundation for our learning. Now we need to get practical. We use the knowledge to encourage our own growth through its application.
Find a problem to tackle, maybe teach the knowledge to someone else—bring the knowledge out of your overthinking little head and into the world.

Putting the P.L.A.N together
Based on the hours of research I put into this I’ve created a Notion template with guidelines and considerations that take you through each of these steps.
I’ll be following them myself for my new pursuits.
You can create a copy of this Notion template for FREE here:

I like the P.L.A.N. framework Rasmus and nice how you linked each of your other articles. Also, good job on the Notion template, I will be sure to check it out. Keep up the good work mate.
Love the topic of learning to learn. Hope you go deeper into this. I've learned for myself that there are so many aspects of this topic, and many subtle ones as well.
